ABC's of Organizing for Teachers

The first of two workshops for teachers who want to change public education through action. (Second workshop Jan 26) This hands-on, participatory workshop introduces the basic concepts and practices of community organizing. Participants will learn how organizing can be used as a strategy to address school needs and problems, create opportunities to build a strong school community and help develop effective strategies for overcoming apathy and fear. Participants will learn about the work of DC VOICE and other school organizing efforts around the country and how they can join with parents, neighbors and students to make a difference in the DC public schools.
