The Humanitarian Crisis:      how far have we come?

Despite many reports to the contrary, the United States¹

air drops have not averted a humanitarian crisis in

war-torn Afghanistan. In this panel, Hiram Ruiz, a senior

policy analyst for the U.S. Committee for Refugees,  Ken

Bacon, president and CEO of Refugees International, and

Nicole Widdersheim, the Deputy Director of the

International Rescue Committee, will speak about the

current situation in Afghanistan and explain why the
