This Land is Your Land: The Life and Legacy of Woody Guthrie

(Exhibit at the National History Museum in 2000)

Friends,

This was a must see event! It was at the National History Museum on the Mall in Washington, D.C. Originally scheduled to run until the Fall 2000, the Smithsonian shorted the stay to Monday, the 17th of July, 2000. Their excuse was they had to install a new, permanent exhibit on the Presidents! Then, perhaps because of a public outcry, they had to reopened it in the Museum's Taylor Gallery from August 7th until September 24th, 2000. (See the Calendar) -

The Woody Guthrie Archives has a good biography of Woody and examples of the exhibit. Check them out!

These quick photos don't do justice to the display or Woody's great talents and contributions. Give yourself lots of time to study this piece of our history.
