YOU ARE INVITED TO:
Show Gratitude to Activitists Mumia and Peltier While Giving Thanks
Then Spend Your Money Where it Counts At Expo
Save the evening of Saturday, November 27 for a "Gratitude Concert"

- an intimate evening of music, speeches, poetry and spoken word dedicated to political prisoners, Mumia Abu-Jamal and Leonard Peltier.

The Gratitude Concert will be held at the First Congregational Church (10th and G Streets NW) from 8-10 p.m. and is one of the five activities of the 16th Annual African American Holiday Expo that supports YEP (the Youth Entrepreneur Program.) and provides a cultural, spiritual holiday alternative.

Both Mumia and Leonard Peltier have stood up courageously against police brutality and corruption, and have been unwavering champions of self-determination and justice for all people. Both are facing escalating legal and health challenges this fall, while the issues for which they took their stands are still of great concern nationwide. Clearly, both need the support of the people to win the justice that has been denied them so long -- Mumia imprisoned for 17 years and on death row; Peltier imprisoned for 23 years.

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the community, pre-eminent performing artists and speakers will gather to pay tribute to these activists and others who have gone on before, who have given generously of themselves to fight oppression of all kinds.

Invited Speakers include:
Dr. Acklyn Lynch, Pam Africa, and Surprise Guests.
Poets and Spoken Word Artists:
Mweli Askari, John Claude Toran, khaRabia Rayford, Lioness, and Mama Ayo.
Performances by : Brother Ah & the Sounds of Awareness Ensemble, Ivy Okola Shadi Hylton, Englishman, Malcolm X Dancers & Drummers, Nataska Hasan HumminBird & Maimouna, Luci Murphy & Friends, Matthew Payne & the Movement Collective, and Salt of the Earth.

The "Gratitude Concert" is being co-sponsored by the African American Holiday Assocation (AAHA), the International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal, and the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee.

Spread the word and come out to support this event, as we not only show gratitude for the works of Mumia and Peltier, icons of resistence, but we will be supporting youth entrepreneurship. And we will be acknowledging each other who continue in the struggle for justice while we celebrate as a community, let our light shine and give thanks!

Tickets are $15 in advance and $18* on the day of the event with Students/Seniors, $3 off all prices.
(*No one will be turned away for lack of funds).

Light refreshments will also be available for sale.
The concert will also be wheel chair accessible and sign language interpreted.

Tickets can also be mailed. And, ask your group to sell tickets. For further info: (202) 547-6847 / (202) 310-1430 or view: www.aaha-info.org

Come let your light shine and give thanks! If you can 't make it, give a generous donation anyway, so someone else can!, while you still support two spiritual warriors.
