Fly the Flag of Peace on MLK's Birthday!
Martin Luther King spoke powerfully and prophetically against war and nationalism, and we would like to celebrate and honor his birthday by publicly demonstrating our opposition to the war on terrorism, and our solidarity with all peoples of the planet. So on Tuesday, January 15, we strongly encourage you to * fly a flag of peace outside your home, or on your car antenna * print out a flag and tape it in your car window, or to you dorm room door or window * buy a button and wear it on your jacket, your hat, or your backpack. The endorsing groups would like to suggest the use of the earth image as an appropriate one to show our solidarity with the rest of the world during this time of rampant nationalism, but there are also other great choices, including of course the peace symbol itself. Check out the following sites for sites for free downloads www.earthflag.net www.oregonpeaceworks.org www.allinthistogether.org www.peaceflags.org

Protest Mayor William's privatization and corporate welfare agenda!!!
Bring signs, banners and most importantly your voice! Show our opposition!
This is the mayor's yearly opportunity to brag about how much good he is doing for the city and its residents. We need to be there to expose what his policies have really meant for DC residents: shuting down the city's only public hospital-DC General, tearing down public housing and privatizing essential city services. Instead he proposes to build a baseball stadium, a soccer stadium, venues for the 2012 Olympics and upscale luxury housing. Where: Dunbar Senior High School 1301 New Jersey Avenue, NW

Photo Exhibit on Guatemalan Deaths

At: American University's Washington College of
Law 4801 Mass. Ave., NW, Room 603, Wash., DC

From 1978 to 1983 - during the height of Guatemala's brutal 36-year civil war, the successive military governments of General Romeo Lucas Garcia and General Efrain Rios Montt, the Guatemalan military and its associated paramilitary outfits killed tens of thousands of Guatemalans. "Refugees Even After Death: Photographs of Exhumations of Clandestine Cemeteries in Guatemala" depicts in visual form the results of this tragic history as well as the bravery of those who today continue to search for justice, truth, and reconciliation in the face
of continuing human rights violations.
