“Citizen Summit” at the DC Convention Center. The flyer sez “On
November
20, Neighborhood Action will invite the citizens of the District of
Columbia
to participate in a day-long Citizen Summit, preceded by a November
18
celebratory kick-off. At the Summit, Mayor Williams will present
his plan
for the city, focusing on how government agencies will work together
towards
city-wide goals. Mayor Williams will then ask citizens to come
together --
building on past planning efforts -- and help shape citywide priorities
and
goals. Citizen input will then be integrated into the Mayor’s
plan
immediately following the Summit, and implementation by government
agencies
will begin in January, 2000.” You can read more at
www.neighborhoodaction.dcgov.org/citizen.htm. Further information
about
sign-up, time, etc. to announced, we presume. You can get more
information
at the following e-mail address: www.ci.washington.dc.us. Gardiner

notes “In the morning folks will be divided (not according to neighborhood)
into small groups (10-12 people) and will discuss/list issues of concern.
Each table will have a facilitator. After lunch, people will be divided
by
ward to prioritize issues of concern. The Mayor will be there all day,
and I
don't know which City Council reps will be there. There will
be no
opportunities for panel presentations, testimonies or other ways for
our
Campaign to participate as a group. Therefore, we are encouraging Campaign
supporters to attend the meeting and bring up health care as an important
issue.”
